Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, through a net account. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest assemblage of cards achievable in order to win money. On this account it is very similar as a classic game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has selected which cards he wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are handed out if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are able to pick the most profitable ones each instance.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that might have been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
