Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a net connection. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, apart from the line of contact with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the enthusiast puts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be "handed out" on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.

Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful players are able to select the most money-making game every time.

As soon as the first round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the gambler an opportunity to double their profits, in which instance another game is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
