Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at home on your PC, through an Internet connection. The regulations are very simple and involve the player trying to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning players are able to select the most profitable ones each and every instance.
As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their profits, in which instance a further round is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
